2025 Progressive Team of the Year Update After Toledo Bend Reservoir!

Burns & Nash in 1st

Boulware and McCall maintain 2nd

Springfield, Mo (April 3rd, 2025) – With three events completed in the 2025 Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s Texas Team Trail presented by Progressive season, the Top-25 teams are all positioned to make a run for their spot in the 2025 Progressive Team of the Year race with only one regular season event left. While other teams in the Top-100 are all looking to secure their slot in the season ending championship on Sam Rayburn this June.

Turning our attention to the last regular season event of the year, the trail heads to Central Texas and Belton Lake right outside of Belton, TX.  The 12,385-acre lake generally fishes bigger than it’s acreage and anglers will find fishing success from one end of the dam all the way up the river.  The lake has kicked out some giant bass during past TXTT events and this time anglers can expect the same but it’s also easy to stumble on this lake opening the door to teams trying to much up the team of the year standings at what will be the last event of the season to earn points to qualify for the 2025 TXTT Championship on Sam Rayburn Reservoir in early June. The championship event is where the Top-75 teams will compete for two boat packages and over $150,000 in cash & prizes will be awarded.

After last weekend’s event on Toledo Bend Reservoir, it is the team of Ben Burns & Ian Nash that lead the race with 726 combined points in the TOY race. This season the team has never finished below 12th place; starting the year on Sam Rayburn with a 12th place finish, backing that up with a 10th place finish on the cold and windy Lake Texoma, and then taking a 5th place finish on Toledo Bend Reservoir. In the Toledo Bend, the team also won the Power-Pole ‘Big Bass’ Award after weighing in an 8-14 with the five-bass limit in their Rapala ‘Crush City’ Bag.

“Man…… these sticks are the best in the country. You see a lot of these guys have accomplished so much on their own like Bassmaster Classic qualifications, countless Angler and Team of the Year honors, plus a majority of these guys have significant experience with the BASS Opens and MLF Toyota Series. And the hard part for us, is these guys bring all these accomplishments to the table on their own, and then pair up together to fish the TXTT,” said Burns.

After their performance on Toledo Bend Reservoir, their year-to-date earned winnings have amounted to $6,661.00 but if they can hold onto their team of the year lead they will win a lot more than that.

“I am a college student at SFA, so it would mean a lot for someone like me and Ian to pull off the Team of the Year title and take home the Ranger Boat”, he also said.

2nd Place – Clayton Boulware & Chris McCall

Two of the most recognized names in the state of Texas, Clayton Boulware & Chris McCall are currently 2nd in TOY points with an amassed total of 711 points. The team has also cashed a check in all three regular season events thus far in 2025, with a Top-5 finish at Lake Texoma.

“Man its tough out there against these anglers”, said Nitro Boats owner Clayton Boulware. “All of these guys are running the top equipment and top electronics, so there is no room for mistakes. Chris and I will definitely be putting our homework in before Belton Lake because with the upgraded boat this year as the TOY prize, and the chance at free entry fees next year, that gives us all the more reason to fish hard and give everyone a run for their money”.

Payouts in 2025 Progressive Team of the Year extends to 25th place of final results after the championship. The top team will take home a 2025 Ranger Z-520 boat package valued at over $92,000, receive free entry fees into 2026, free TXTT memberships, and a set of Bass Pro Shops GuideWear for each angler in the team. TXTT prides itself at offering one of the top Team of the Year payouts among team tournaments in the state of Texas.
