Catch All of the Action on the Mighty Mississippi River this Week for Stop #2!!!

La Crosse, WI (May 20th, 2025) – It’s May! Fish are spawning, summer is coming on quick, the temperatures are rising, and graduates are walking across the stage. Happening also this week is Stop #2 of the 2025 Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’sNational Walleye Tour presented by Progressive on the Mississippi River out of Pool 8 in La Crosse, WI. The top walleye tournament anglers will once again come together in the state of Wisconsin, fishing for over $150,000 in cash & prizes, and more importantly, capturing Progressive Angler of the Year points to get one step closer to qualifying for the 2025 NWT Championship in September.

Ranger Boats-NWT Pro-Angler Eric McQuoid said this about the Mississippi River this week, “I’m looking forward to getting to La Crosse. I’ve never been to that part of the river, but the Mississippi is always a fun fishery and never makes it too easy on us,” said the former NWT Champ from ALGOMA, WI.

“I think the first few days of practice will be tough looking at the upcoming cold front but hopefully it stabilizes and makes for a good event. With having pools 7, 8, and 9 in play as well as Iowa and all of the backwaters it’s going to make for a challenge to break down the huge amount of water. My goal to try and focus on pool 8 and not have to worry about locking through and hopefully get some good points to continue the run to the championship.”

Anglers and fans in the La Crosse, WI area is highly encouraged to come join the NWT on Thursday, May 22nd& Friday, May 23rd for launch and weigh-in at Veterans Freedom Boat Park Launch. Daily launches will begin at 7am CT, and daily weigh-ins will start at 3pm. Both events are free to the public.

NWT will also be having a Kid’s Fishing Clinic on Friday immediately following weigh-in and the crowning of the event champion Pro-Angler and Co-Angler, the first 100 kids will receive a free Bass Pro Shops Kid’s Combo.
