Clay Sammons & Trey Sammons take TXTT Event #2 on Lake Texoma with 20-05

Redington & McClendon finish 2nd, Taylor & Taylor finish in 3rd

Kingston, OK (March 8th, 2025) –In one of the most cold and wet events ever held in TXTT history, 274 anglers took to the waters at Lake Texoma for the second event of the 2025 Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s Texas Team Trail presented by Progressive season. While many teams struggled to catch keepers, it was local team of brothers Clay & Trey Sammons that brought to the scales a mixed Rapala ‘Crush City’ bag of smallmouth and largemouth weighing in at 20-05 to take the victory.

The team of brothers fished out of 20-year-old boat with a 225hp outboard, but proved it’s not the boat that catches fish- it’s experience and in today’s case a little bit of local knowledge. With the victory, the team becomes the owner of a brand new 2025 Nitro Z-18 Pro boat package rigged with Garmin electronics and a Garmin Force trolling motor. With the optional Angler Advantage side pot their total winnings come out to $52,673.

“Any chance you get to win a tournament at a local lake where your friends and family can come to weigh-in it is certainly special”, said Bass Pro Shops Guidewear owner Trey Sammons. “Today was all about keeping our mind off of the weather conditions and staying in areas we knew the bigger fished lived and not get in too much of a hurry”.

Alabama rigs, swimbaits, and a Storm Wiggle Wart was the recipe of success for the brothers. The team reported catching 7 or 8 keepers throughout their day on Lake Texoma before putting their boat on the trailer and coming back to West Bay Casino & Resort with the winning bag of fish.

“We would like to thank our friends and family for all the support that they give us. This makes our year-to-date total winnings almost $60,000. And that does not come by accident, it comes through a lot of support and fishing clean on the water”.

Second Place team of Dave Redington & Chad McClendon took home the Power-Pole ‘Big Bass’ honors with a Lake Texoma largemouth weighing 7-10. They take home a certificate for a new Power-Pole Pro Series II shallow water system.

A full story recapping the entire event on Sam Rayburn and a breakdown of the Top-3 teams will be published on Monday!
