McQuiod in 2nd and Huynh in 3rd

Springfield, MO (June 28, 2024)- The Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s National Walleye Tour presented by Progressive has only one regular season event and then the season ending championship left in 2024. To this point, Ranger Boat Pro-Angler Hunter Nitti remains in the lead of the 2024 Progressive Angler of the Year race. After taking over the lead after the second event of the season, he hasn’t looked back. However, he has a very narrow lead over second place angler Eric McQuoid.

Hunter’s 2024 season is one for the record books in the NWT. He started the season with a second-place finish at Lake Erie with a two-day total of 64-10 behind event winner John Hoyer. The second event of the season on the Mississippi River in Red Wing, MN, the Rapala Pro-Angler posted another Top-10 finish. Most recently at the Bay of the Green Bay, he also posted his second top five finish of the season by walking away fourth. In total, Hunter has earned 590 points and won $49,005.

With only two events left Nitti has a slight 5 point lead over Garmin Pro-Angler Eric McQuoid. Eric, the most recent NWT champion at the Bay of Green Bay, has earned 585 in Progressive Angler of the Year points going into the final regular season event. He has also accomplished an 11th place finish at Lake Erie, and a 6th place finish at the Mississippi River. Eric certainly is no stranger to winning big titles in walleye fishing. In 2021, he walked away with the Championship title and he’s won $148,439 so far during his 2024 season which includes $12.000 in Ranger Cup contingency cash.

With the last regular season event taking place in early August in North Dakota at Lake Sakakawea, may of the other anglers will be putting in effort to make the no entry fee championship at Lake Huron in Oscoda, MI.
