Louisiana Team Moore & Pitt Win TXTT Event #4 on Belton Lake
Burns & Nash Take Second
Whited & Larson Finish in Third
Belton, TX (May 3rd, 2025) – The Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s Texas Team Trail presented by Progressiveended its regular season today on Belton Lake. The anglers competing today were competing for a fully rigged Nitro Bass boat, in addition to other cash and prizes as well as valuable points towards the upcoming championship to be held on Sam Rayburn in June for the top 75 teams.
As the day dawned anglers were greeted at takeoff with north winds and no clouds as the competitors launched out of Belton Lake Outdoor Recreational Area. The weather was a topic at takeoff in what would become the nicest weather conditions the TXTT has seen all season after the strong storms that swept through the area yesterday. However, the post-frontal conditions from yesterday’s storms proved to make the fishing a little trickier than what most anglers anticipated.
Belton Lake a 12,385-acre body of water in central Texas has been a destination that TXTT has visited in the past. However, the recent lack of rain in many parts of Texas to include near Belton Lake had made it tough for the trail to schedule an event there but the conditions in 2025 set up nicely for this body of water to host the final qualifying event of the season which the competing teams were excited about.
At the end of the competition day, there were a lot of limits brought to the scales, but it was the Louisiana team of Cole Moore and Cody Pitt who brought in the heaviest limit to the scales in Rapala ‘Crush City’ bags. Their five-fish limit weighed in at 19-03 pounds which was over two pounds heavier than the 2nd place team.
Moore and Pitt also had a Top-3 finish at the 3rd stop of the season on Toledo Bend. Today they went out with a goal of just trying to secure their spot in the 2025 TXTT Championship in June, but instead they took home the victory from a nice mixed bag of smallmouth and largemouth bass. For the win, the team goes home to Louisiana with a new 2025 Nitro Z-18 boat package, plus Angler’s Advantage side pot, and the $200 T-H Marine Atlas Jack Plate contingency bonus. The T-H Marine Atlas Jack Plate contingency bonus is awarded to the highest finishing team with the Atlas Jack Plate on their boat.
“Man, today we caught a ton of fish,” reported Cole. “We started out our day taking a left and going up the lake and eventually ended down by the dam. We caught numerous keepers today and culled a few times. We knew we had a good bag, but did not expect to win it even under tough conditions.”
The team primarily did their damage throwing Alabama Rigs and Crankbaits throughout the day targeting fish in the post-spawn but relating to a shad-spawn that was happening on the lake.
“It feels good getting the win before the Championship on Rayburn. Being from Louisiana that Sam Rayburn is a lake we are very familiar with and hopefully the momentum carries, “said the team.
A full recap story with baits and techniques will be published early next week.
